5 Stars all round! Maggie is quite possibly the most energetic, kind, friendly and passionate person you will ever meet. She exudes positive energy, and it’s catching! If your looking for a social experience, full of friendly new faces, activities to keep you busy as much or as little as you wish, with hiking, paddle boarding, Pilates with Maggie, walking / running, and lots of beautifully and expertly delivered yoga (by Frankie, a yogi to be in awe of) then this is the retreat for you. Maggie delivers the timetable in a relaxed and homely way, no pressure and no judgement if you want to sit something out.
There is access to some equally positive firebrand therapists, from life coaching, reflexology, all kinds of massage, reiki etc. Experts in their field and friendly to boot. You get a treatment with your stay, and anything else you want is extra, but there is access to all the information and prices before you go, so there are no hidden costs or surprises. Wine is by the glass in the evening, £4/5 each. Lovely fresh smoothies and shots every day, access to fruit, snacks, hot drinks all day. You will not go hungry.
The location in Wales is stunning, the journey across the mountains towards the sea was an experience in itself, with stunning countryside and views. The food is simple, vegetarian and excellent quality, plenty of it and there is cake! No fad diets here. The accommodation is nice, with a selection of different rooms at different prices, to suit all budgets.
I met a range of people from lots of different backgrounds, areas of the country, different lives. It was also a healing experience to connect with a new group of people who you don’t know, after the pandemic, we have all forgotten that we are just one big community of humans at the end of the day, all with similar issues, problems and things we need to fix in our lives. It was good to remember that we are all in a very similar boat, no matter who we are.
This was a positive experience, it’s co-operative, and social. If your looking for a quiet, solo time to meditate, this is probably not the thing for you, although they do deliver different kinds of retreats, more spiritual and quietly inclined, so check them out. Either way, you’ll come away with a fresh take on life, and some new friends x
